Iowa Society Will Host Wine Tasting Tour on Nov. 10

The Iowa Society of Washington, DC will host a wine-tasting tour in Virginia on Saturday, Nov. 10th. 

We have a chartered bus that will leave from Union Station at noon and will take us to four different vineyards and a barbecue at the last vineyard.   

The bus will return to Union Station around 8 PM.  The trip is free to Iowa Society members and $15 for non-members. The Iowa Society will provide transportation and food for the barbecue but the trip does not include the cost of the wine.  Most vineyards charge $5 per person for tastings.  You may want to bring a box lunch with you.  You will also have the option of purchasing glasses or bottles of wine.

Space on the bus is limited to the first 48 people who sign up.  Please make a reservation by sending an email to social@iowasociety.org

State Society of Arizona Football Brunch Oct. 21

NCSS Golf Benefit for Oct. 20 Postponed to Spring

The NCSS Golf Benefit Set for October 20 is  postponed to Spring 2008.  Due to competition from several golf events including those sponsored by individual state societies during September and October, NCSS officers have decided to postpone the benefit golf tournament to Spring 2008, probably at the Marlton Golf Club in Upper Marlboro.  State Society officers will be notified of the new date after the New Year.

The Kansas State Society Invites Kansans Oct. 18

The Kansas State Society of Washington, DC invites all Kansas expatirates now living in the greater Washington, DC area to visit the 2007 Kansas State University Solar Decathalon Entry near the Metro stop behind the information center at the Smithsonian Castle.  The reception is 6-8 PM on Thursday, Oct. 18 on the National Mall near the Metro Stop escalator.

Faculty members and students from the KSU College of Architecture, Planning, and Design will be present to answer questions about their solar power building design.  Please RSVP by Monday, Oct. 15 by sending an email to POTTS@ksu.edu or by calling 785-532-1090.  For more information about the KSU entry see www.solardecathalon.org.
