Kentucky, Indiana, & Illinois State Societies Will Honor President Abraham Lincoln on Feb. 12

The Kentucky Society, the Indiana State Society, and the Illinois State Society have been invited by the National Park Service and the Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission to lay wreaths at the Lincoln Kentuckywreath08 Memorial on the 200th Anniversary of Lincoln's birth.  Please join us.  The three state societies will be present at the Lincoln Memorial at 8 am on Thursday morning, Feb. 12 to participate in a special ceremony.  The same three state societies took part in the ceremony last year and several different times over the last 87 years including the dedication of the memorial in 1922. The societies represent Kentucky where Lincoln was born, Indiana where he was raised as a child, and Illinois where he practiced law, served in the state legislature, was elected to Congress, and from which he was elected president.  The ceremony is on the steps in front of the memorial and is open to the news media and the public.
