American Samoa Society at Saudi Embassy Feb. 6

You are cordially invited to join members of the American Samoa Society at a very special reception at the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia on Friday, Feb. 6th.  The reception will highlight an evening of Saudi Arabian culture and cusine along with the opportunity to meet the embassy staff as well as other guests and members of the American Samoa Society who have interest in International Cultures.  The evening features a  film giving you an insight into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia including its people, culture, and customs.  Embsassy staff are on hand to answer questions.  the Saudi Buffet is $75 and starts at 7 pm.  Please call Apaula Brown at 202-479-4658 or 202-716-6151 for reservations.  Business attire is fine.  The Embassy address is 601 New Hampshire Avenue, NW.

American Samoa Society Meets Russian Culture Tonight

  State Society members from all states Basil2are cordially invited to join members of the American Samoa Society at the Russian Soiree and Dance Reception tonight, Saturday, January 24th, at 7:00p.m, in the Russian Cultural Center, located on 1825 Phelps Place, NW, Washington, DC, 20008. Parking is available on the streets, or take the Metro red line to Dupont Circle.  A cocktail reception will be followed by a Russian dinner buffet and an intimate concert of English and Russian ballads performed by Maria V, after which there will be a traditional Russian fashion presentation.  You will also be able to see an exhibit called "Through the Eyes of Russian Women Artists."  Tickets are $85 per person. Cocktail attire is preferred.  Call Apaula K. American Samoa Society Inaugural Event at Embassy of Indonesia on Jan. 17

  Members of the American Samoa Society of Washington, DC will meet at the International Club of DC on Saturday, January 17th, 2009 at American Samoa 6:30 pm to proceed for a Black-tie Inaugural Gala at the Embassy of Indonesia. This is a nonpartisan unity gala reception to celebrate a special moment in American history.  Tickets range from $75 to $95.  Please call Apaula K. Requested Attire is Cocktail or Business - Black-tie Optional.  The Indonesian Embassy is located at 2020 Massachussetts Avenue, NW, Embsssy Row. The Embassy Bldg. is the former Walsh Mansion. Evelyn Walsh was one of the owners of the Hope Diamond, now in the National Natural History Museum of the Smithsonian Institution.  President-elect Barack Obama lived in Indonesia when he was a child. It is now your turn to discover the rich cultural heritage, traditions, an cuisine of Indonesia! There will be live Gamelan Music and Indonesian Dance Presentation featuring traditional costumed Indonisian singers a very special and rare treat.  A jazz ensemble will also play.
