Friends of Guam Invited to Meet Doloris Coulter Cogan

Guam Author  Friends of Guam and their guests in the Washington area are invited to a book signing event for Doloris Coulter Cogan on Monday, March 30 from 6:30 pm to 8 pm at Busboys and Poets, 2021 14th Street, NW, Washington, DC.  Cogan's newly publihsed book is called We Fought the Navy and Won: Guam's Quest for Democracy.  The book details Guam's struggle for democracy and self government from 1945 until President Harry Truman signed the Organic Act of Guam in 1950.  All friends of Guam are invited to come March 30 to meet the author. Please RSVP to NCSS President Lou Barrett by sending an email to lourdesbarrett@mac.com.

Guam Society of America party Saturday, Oct. 11

GuamCongressman Madeleine Z. Bordallo will be the Guest of Honor and speaker when The Guam Society of America hosts the 2008 Chamorro Night Party on Saturday, Oct. 11.  The party will be from 3 pm to 11 pm at the Izaak Walton League at 4200 Gardiner Road in Waldorf, Maryland.  Attire is Island Wear.  Tropic Sounds will provide Marianas flag 3 music, dancing, and entertainment.  For directions CLICK HERE and click on  upcoming events to see your invitation. Guam Liberation Day Reception is Wednesday, July 16

Congressman Madeleine Z. Bordallo of Guam and Resident Representative Pedro A. Tenorio of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands invite Guam Society members and other state societies to a Wreath Laying Ceremony in honor of the National Commemoration of the 64th Anniversary of the Liberation of Guam and the Battle for the Northern Marianas.  The wreath ceremony will take place at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers at Arlington National Cemetery on Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at 8:00 am.

On Wednesday, July 16, Ms. Lou Barrett, president of NCSS and president of the Guam Society of America will join honorary hosts Rep. Bordallo and Rep. Tenorio in extending an invitation to members of the Guam Society and others to attend the Liberation Day reception in the Canonon House Office Building Caucus Room (Capitol South Metro) from 6:30 pm to 9 pm.  If you have any questions, please send an email to Lou Barrett at LourdesBarrett@mac.com

Guam Society Princess Ball is Saturday, April 5
